3rd : CLINIC in session
Tonight I welcomed fine primeval rhythm rockers Clinic
into The Garden for an exclusive and very loud session.
They played four songs from their recently released 3rd
album 'Winchester Cathedral' available now on Domino.
Their set was peppered with tasty choices from Giant Sand
and tracks from the fabulous, but sadly final long player by
10th : LES 7 MONDES mix
Space rockers extrordinairre Les 7 Mondes have
returned from a black hole in the deepest, darkest
part of space to bring us an exclusive mix of planet
sized proportions. French duo Maxx and Sim have
been making music together since 1997 taking
influences from Free Jazz to experimental rock.
From 10pm you could hear "squealing synthtendrils,
drones, trills and spattering beats, with glaring guitartronics!"
More info available in their great website: Estrunax
17th : BLIGHTY mix
For the third in my ongoing series of mixes by DJ's
from the Vinylvulture website I featured a chap known
only as Blighty. He concocted a cool mix, curiously titled
'All Cats Go To Heaven'. Blighty collects records; he also
makes strange and fractured music out of old vinyl and
plays records to drunken people in darkened rooms.
He lives on the South coast of England, his star sign is
Cancer and in Chinese astrology he is a pig, but you
would have enjoyed his mix.
15th : The Garden Of Earthly Delights: LIVE EVENT
This was a rare opportunity to see The Head Gardener in full blooming
DJ effect, alongside guitar FX wizard Tariq Hussain as well as visuals
by Si Comm for one night only! In association with 8i8 the evening
featured chilled electronica with ambient grooves along with plenty
of audio and visual suprises. Also appearing live on the night were
24th : JAZZ MAG NUMB 2 mix
Following the success of the original Jazz Mag Numb Mix
{as featured in a glowing write-up in iDJ magazine and also
still available to hear via Gurn} life has moved on and it was
finally time for cheeky filth and outrageous naughtiness!
With more excerpts from 70's porno movies than you can
shake a sticky wicket at, as well as a feast of cheekiness your
dad would be ashamed of, this turned out to be a mix of downright
depravity, lust and lasciviousness. Request your copy here: Mixes
What happened in September 04
and, on a lighter note...
This was my Top 5 Sporting Films
article as featured in the centre pages
of The Daily Mirror on 24th September.
1st : DADDY G mix
Grant Marshall, a.k.a. Daddy G is regarded as the spiritus rector
of what has historically become known as the "Bristol Sound", as
For tonights show he dug deep into his crates for a selection of
Studio One classics and rare soul and reggae joints.
I too spun some nice dub and also tracks from the forthcoming
8th : JAMIE YORKSTON in session
Tonight I welcomed dog lovin' Jamie Yorkston into The Garden
for a special acoustic session. He performed 4 tunes from his
recent album for Domino titled 'Just Beyond The River' which
was produced by Four Tet's Kieran Hebden.
I complemented his set with plenty of new music from The Dears
fertilizer. Visit Jamie Yorkston online here
15th : WHITE_LINE mix
Tonight I broadcasted the premiere of the first in a series
of ultra-minimal mixes for The Garden. Mixed especially by
Si Comm using cross fading and the layering of sounds with
the inadvertently stumbled upon idea of sampling these layers,
then re-processing and distorting them into fragmented loops.
It was an electronic feast for the ears now available to hear here
22nd : FLIP DA SCRIPT mix
website came from a man of many guises. By day,
DJ tutor Chris Tarn, schooling the youth of tomorrow
in the art of the turntable. By evening, DJ/Producer 4No,
one half of North East beat collective Flip da Script.
And now, proud father "Daddy C" to daughter Kalila,
who's birth this mix celebrated. Music for Kalila is a
sweet mix of downtempo Hip-Hop and gentle ambient
electronica, it also includes 2 of his own tracks.

a more in depth biography visit him here.
29th : The PoppyCoDeans in session
This new 3 piece band from Milton Keynes are no strangers
to the local scene having been members of Supakarma and
Cirrus Minor over the years. Main man Steve Sciberras has
been a guest on the show before and so I welcomed him back
with his new "psychedelic rock'n' roll band".
Their debut gig was at The Masonic Hall in Bletchley, MK the
following evening and your friendly Gardener was DJ support.
21st : Deverova Chyba and C : LIVE in MILTON KEYNES
This was a great opportunity to see two excellent bands from Czech Republic
AND to buy me a drink, in exchange for a mix, as I was on the decks with
a whole bunch of ass kickin' tunes! The bands are on a short UK tour and
their MK date was well worth coming to as they are both mighty fine merchants
of noise. It all kicked off at ZAKS in Wolverton, Milton Keynes : 5 photos HERE
