Listen Live : Friday nights from 10pm on CRMK Radio
I kicked off my birthday month with a great exclusive mix from Norweigian
artist Kohib. Signed to Beatservice Records he is part of the current Tromsø Scene
which is regarded as the Techno capitol of Norway. The city is perhaps most famous
here for Röyksopp yet Kohib cuts his own unique path with his chilled electronic grooves.
Tonights mix was originally recorded exclusively for a French clothes shop
by a Jamie xx member of the band the xx (always small case, ha!).
It was such an interesting mix though that I'm sure you'll have digged it.
Another fine mix courtesy of my friends at Fabric & this was one of the best yet.
A Birmingham native – Surgeon aka Anthony Child – made his name with a slew
of releases in the 90s for the likes of Tresor and Soma, and also runs the Counterbalance
and Dynamic Tension imprints. His Techno mix this evening featured his own tunes
It's been several years since their first mix for the show but they made
a glorious return with a brand spanking new one, especially for you.
Their latest album Kid Cargo & The Wicker Jetplane is one of my favourite
albums of July and you'll have had some idea why by tuning in tonight.
23rd : HEAD GARDENER ~ mix
Just a few days after my birthday I was still celebrating with a sobering
reminder of my age by playing an hour and a half of ye olde Dad Rock.
Any excuse really to exhume old vinyl by the likes of UFO and Cheap Trick
and tatty gatefold sleeved gems by Spirit, ELO and erm, Lynyrd Skynyrd.
I wallowed in the nostalgia and even if your not over 40 you probably did too.

6th : ERASERHEAD ~ re-scored
I was due to start this month with my fresh Dub mix but
as Tariq & I felt we needed to brush up on our skills for
the show coming up below, I changed the show schedule.
The Garden of Dub mix will still happen in September
but I hope you still digged what we did tonight!

Tonight I presented another exclusive session for the show,
this time from electronic artist Keith Seatman from West Fuddlewitch.
Previously a guitarist in The Marilyn Monroes and The Psylons who
once recorded a session for John Peel. His new guise is a world away from
his previous life, you could hear why when he performrd 3 tunes for us this evening.
The Beatmeister from Basingstoke cooked up a heady brew
of his own tunes with a bucket-load of samples and FX into
a mix he called The Landfill Harmonic. If you only stayed in
one night this week this was the night to do it!
Formed from the ashes of Milton Keynes band Helicoptah they are
now reborn as The Box... Ticked and wandered up my Garden path tonight
for their first radio session anywhere! Performing four tunes including
a Cure cover, I complimented their session with suitably groovy tunes.
This evening my friend Tariq and I played our re-scoring of
It's been a few years since we last performed it at The Cube in Bristol
and this time we still managed to shake the foundations with the bass turned
up full, a truly bottom-clenching experience was had by all.
